For children with 50 kg wt, is it correct to calculate drug doses with adult dose?
It’s not that simple.
First calculate the BMI and define if the patient is obese and the degree of obesity.
You can calculate that using this calculator:
https://samraph.com/pediatric-bmi-calculator/#cdc
Then check the each drug monograph to find out the obesity dose adjustment for that specific drug.
If the patient is not obese “for example acc to CDC definition”, then again check every drug monograph to find the maximum dose for that specific drug.
And generally, when calculating the dose “especially per weight” if you find the calculated doses near or exceeds the usual adult dose, then you should check for obesity adjustments and maximum doses for every drug the patient taking.
If you can share the patient data, I may be able to help you more.
