Is infants have  non functioning β2-receptors ? 

So we can not use farcolin inhaler for <3 month ??

No. Infants do have functional β2-adrenergic receptors from birth.

However, the clinical response to β2-agonists like salbutamol (Farcolin) may be limited in infants under 3 months.

This is not because the receptors are non-functional, but because:

The pathophysiology of diseases like bronchiolitis (common in this age) involves airway edema and mucus, which don’t respond well to bronchodilators.

Also, infants have less smooth muscle in the airways, so bronchodilation has a smaller physical effect.

Can we use Farcolin inhaler in infants <3 months?

Yes, it can be used, but:

It’s often given as a trial to see if the infant responds.

If there’s no improvement, it’s usually stopped.

Mainstay treatment for viral bronchiolitis remains supportive care (e.g., oxygen, hydration).

You will find well documented doses for Salbutamol in infants and neonates.
