The AEDs that block voltage-gated sodium channels (phenytoin, carbamazepine, valproate, lamotrigine, topiramate, zonisamide, and others) are effective (Swinyard and Woodhead, 1982).

The treatment will depend on the type of seizures.

Seizures following electrical shock tends to be an immediate effect that resolves shortly after electrical shock.

If the convulsions persist, that would mean a more permanent or long term effect that needs further investigations and diagnosis before recommending any medication.
