Usually doses in guidelines are expressed as the equivalent amounts of valproic acid.

Available formulations of valproate (active moiety) include valproic acid, valproate sodium, and divalproex sodium (also known as valproate semisodium) salts; you should refer to product-specific labeling for details.

Depakine Chrono is a delayed release formulation.

Converting between formulations may require you to increase or decrease the dose, you should refer to each product pamphlet.

Valproic acid
Each 100 mg na valproate =87 mg Valproic acid
