Ceftriaxone can be used with caution in patients with elevated liver enzymes, as it is partially metabolized by the liver and excreted in bile and urine. Mild to moderate elevation in liver enzymes without clinical signs of liver dysfunction is not a contraindication. However, close monitoring is recommended, especially in cases of cholestasis or prolonged use, due to the risk of biliary sludge. Dose adjustment is usually not needed unless there is concomitant renal impairment.
